RESULTS
Our services are delivered with market knowledge and a focus on your best opportunities
We opened our doors in 1989, at the depth of the Texas real estate depression.
From that dark start, we grew because a focus on service and good real estate will succeed in any market, up or down.
Since the beginning more than 30 years ago, our focus is Texas’ major-metro markets. We’re proud to be a part of the most phenomenal period of growth that our state has ever seen.
HOW WE STARTED
In 1989, after three decades leading the Texas retail division for Henry S. Miller Co. and later Grubb & Ellis, Herbert D. Weitzman founded The Weitzman Group and Cencor Realty Services.
The company starts with offices in D-FW and Austin, which are later joined by Houston and San Antonio, and becomes known as The Retail Specialists® in Texas.
1989-1990During the decade, we develop and lease major projects in Austin, D-FW, Houston and San Antonio, including landmarks like:
Austin's mixed-use 1-million-square-foot The Triangle
D-FW's Central Market- and Nordstrom Rack-anchored Shops of Southlake
The 500,000-square-foot Crossing at 288 with Walmart and JCPenney in the Houston area
Culebra Market, a San Antonio destination with H-E-B Plus! and Home Depot.
We transform a vacant two-story medical project into a mixed-use project with second-floor office and first-floor retail. The project, 4200 North Lamar, is the company's Austin headquarters.
We're recognized as one of the Top 25 retail property managers in the U.S.
2010Denton's Golden Triangle Mall wins a Dallas Business Journal Best Real Estate Deal award and a D Magazine Best Redevelopment award.
Dominion Ridge, a mixed-use project located in a heavily treed setting, opens in San Antonio's most affluent neighborhood.
Marshall Mills, a company leadership veteran, is named President and CEO. Herb Weitzman assumes the title of Executive Chairman.
West Plano Village, a landmark mixed-use project, totaling 1 million square feet, debuts with retail, office and AMLI apartments.
2015Michelle Caplan is named Top Retail Broker of the Year for 2016 by the Dallas Business Journal.
Herb Weitzman receives the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Dallas Business Journal and the Pioneer Award from D CEO Magazine.
IKEA joins our planned San Antonio project, Live Oak Town Center. Upon completion, Live Oak Town Center will total nearly 1 million square feet.
We rebrand as Weitzman.
Our new name, Weitzman, is instantly recognizable and provides unified power to our platform.
Herb Weitzman receives the Urban Land Institute's Vision Award.
Today, we lease 44 million square feet of retail space, manage 22 million square feet, have developed more than 29 million square feet of retail space, and work with a statewide team of 250 people.
2017HOW WE’VE GROWN
Our track record is testament to the results we get for our clients.
When we began, we leased a portfolio of less than 3 million square feet. Today, we lease more than 44 million square feet of retail space, and we manage 22 million square feet.
We provide a deep knowledge of local markets combined with a nationwide network, creating value and opportunity for you.
We offer a culture of expertise focused on service, creating an unmatched ability to get results.
